Young Roots Producers is a place where children's imaginations take centre stage.

Each week, children (ages 6-12) at Young Roots Producers will explore books, play drama games, build stories, use movement and dance and bring imaginative scenes to life. Over the weeks, they’ll collaborate to create original plays and showcases. Eventually performing for friends and family to share the magic.

From a very young age, children naturally role-play, act out stories, and pretend to be someone else — it’s how they make sense of the world. These early moments of creativity spark curiosity, joy, and imagination. And this should be nurtured, not outgrown.

Who doesn’t love a gripping play, a powerful song, or a beautifully written book? At the heart of all these experiences is drama — and children love it. More importantly, drama is fun and helps children develop invaluable life skills: confidence, resilience, empathy, compassion, creative thinking, and conflict resolution.

One of the most powerful things about drama is its ability to unlock potential in children who might not connect with traditional learning. Some children instantly come alive on stage. I’ve seen it and it’s wonderful! Drama builds confidence by giving every child a voice and a stage to express it.

As a qualified primary school teacher with years of experience teaching drama and putting on countless performances — I know how transformative this creative journey can be.

Young Roots Producers is about planting the seeds of creativity and confidence and watching them grow.
