What to expect

Young Roots is where children (ages 4-11) and their adults can enjoy learning and connecting with other home-educated families in a supportive, stimulating, and nurturing atmosphere. It's a child-led environment with your child at its heart.

Central to the ethos of Young Roots is collaboration. It’s my aim that each session is rooted in children and adults working together, alongside one another. Learning together in fun, creative and meaningful ways – families will connect with others and grow personally and socially.

As a qualified primary school teacher, I’ll spend time with all children and adults offering support and guidance using my energy and excitement to motivate learning.

Each week our inspiring learning space is filled with a variety of theme-based activities for you and your child to explore and enjoy together.

There are three primary workstations—Word, Number, and Making & Creating –available throughout the session, each offers engaging and exciting tasks. Children can choose to follow the suggested tasks or embark on their own learning journey, inspiring others as they go. When this happens it’s magical to see! Work alongside your child and watch them curate their learning path. A cosy reading area is also always available with a selection of books, connected to the week’s theme.

Our safe and friendly environment allows for flexibility and adaptability where your child can express themselves and learn in their own unique way. You can choose to work seated at a table, sitting on the floor, standing, working in small groups, or working alone. Whatever works for each child. There’s no pressure to complete or try everything and if no task interests your child, I will work with them to adapt and create something different.

The venue has a wonderful outside green space where different equipment is on offer for children to use independently or part of a group.
